Legislative and Regulatory Action: 66 Pa. C.S. Section 2807(f)
Act 129 of 2008 (HB 2200); Act 129 requires electric utilities with more than 100,000 customers to submit for PUC approval smart meter technology procurement and installation plans. The Act also requires the PUC to direct utilities to offer, by the end of the respective rate cap periods, time-of-use and real-time pricing plans and to equip homes and business with smart meters within 15 years. Costs may be recovered in rates.
